Like every year, New Years Resolutions are being tossed around like candy this year. Diet? Spend more time with the family? Get a new job? Take up a hobby?
This year I’ve come up with a resolution that’s a small one, but a big one.
I’m a pretty independent girl. I’ve paid for university by myself, moved to Asia, France and within Canada all by myself, and moved up the career ladder…all by myself.
But life is changing very soon from a “me” to a “we”. However, when I talk I still mostly refer to “me”.
So, my New Years Resolution is to use more “we”. It may sound like an outdated anti-feminist resolution, but it’s not. It’s this modern feminists way of realizing that yes, I do share my life with someone, and not it’s not all about “me”. So if I say “we” I haven’t lost the “me” I’ve just switched out a letter that recognizes I’m no longer thinking only for myself.
Happy New Years!
