In Toronto the winter can be pretty harsh. It’s all to easy to stay home, open the Shiraz, and eat rich cheese tucked in some cozy blankets. Even the thought of going outside is scary.
When thinking of going outside for prolonged periods of time the average person does some quick math…factoring in the amount of time outside, how cold it is outside, and how much fun they’re likely to have. Often times the math doesn’t work out, and everyone stays inside.
But who can live like a shut-in for half the year?!
Luckily our friends at Toronto Harbourfront are hosting DJ Skate Saturday Nights at the Natrel Rink at Harbourfront to get us of our sofas. They have an outdoor skating rink open everyday, and on some nights they have dj’s spinning.
So grab a few girlfriends, bundle up, and head out to the rink for some good, clean fun.
Here’s the schedule for 2010 (always from 8-11pm):
January 2, DJ -2 (ambient electronica)
January 9, DJs Matt Cully and Lou Calabro (blues, swing, 50’s rock, doo wop)
January 16, DJs Andy Reid, Simon Jain and YUG (house)
January 23, DJ Promise (mix of funky beats)
January 30, DJ L’Oqenz and The 2 Swift Household (hip hop, old school jazz)
February 6, The Real Soul on Ice (soul, funk, house, reggae)
February 13, Cherry Bomb (house and electro)
